Control Bridge prototype · CB Trigger

Map the input, choose a single destination, then verify several presses before rehearsal.

This quickstart is based on the current development documentation. It is not a release announcement or a replacement for rehearsing and verifying your own setup.

Install the prototype

Obtain the current Control Bridge build from CLR. Keep CB Trigger.amxd beside cb_trigger.js and keep clr-logo.png in the same folder. Add that folder to Live’s browser or your Ableton User Library, then put the device on a MIDI track in a backed-up rehearsal Set. Public release, licence and pricing details are not announced.

1. Map the hardware input

  1. In Live press Cmd-M to enter MIDI Map mode.
  2. Click the device’s large MIDI Input control, then press or move the hardware control.
  3. Exit MIDI Map mode.

The device passes incoming MIDI downstream. Check the track’s output routing and remove any unintended duplicate mappings before testing a show action.

2. Capture a parameter destination

  1. Press Arm Mapping. The button changes to Mapping….
  2. Click the target Live or exposed plug-in parameter. It can be on another track.
  3. Check that the button reads Mapped and the displayed target is the one you intended.
  4. Use Clear before capturing a different target.

Third-party controls must be exposed as Live parameters, using the plug-in device’s Configure controls where needed. The prototype flips the mapped target between its low and high values; it is not a general continuous-value remapper.

3. Choose Force Toggle correctly

With Force Toggle off, every changed incoming value performs one target-state flip. This suits hardware that alternates 127 and 0 on successive physical presses.

For a momentary button that sends 127 when pressed and 0 when released, enable Force Toggle. It suppresses the zero/release transition so one physical press produces one toggle action. Leave it off for already alternating hardware, or every second press can be suppressed. Repeated identical values are ignored.

This describes the current prototype; arbitrary press-held momentary output modes are not claimed.

4. Or use Direct Transport

Instead of a mapped parameter, choose Play/Stop, Play, Stop or Arrangement Record from Direct Transport. Only one destination method can be active: Clear the captured parameter before choosing transport, or return Direct Transport to None before mapping.

Test carefully. These controls can start playback or toggle recording. Begin in a disposable rehearsal copy, verify the selected destination and test several consecutive presses, including releases.

Saving and current limits

Mapping/restoration in this prototype still needs Live-session validation. After reopening a Set, verify the destination and remap if it is unavailable. Do not assume an old saved mapping is ready for performance. The product page uses a static interface preview derived from native presentation controls, not a captured Live session.
