Development build 1.3.2 · Max for Live
Audit first. Make media changes only after reviewing the scan, backups and recovery procedure.
This quickstart is based on the current development documentation. It is not a release announcement or a replacement for rehearsing and verifying your own setup.
Use Ableton Live 11 or later with Max for Live; Live 12 is recommended. The device requires Max 8.5 or later with Node for Max, plus ffprobe and ffmpeg available together. Obtain the current device and its installation instructions from CLR; this page does not provide a public download.
Save a backup of your Set and project media. Save the current Set before inspecting Sampler references, because those are read from the last saved .als file. Reconnect missing project/sample volumes first.
If the result stays as dashes or reports an error, do not proceed to Convert. Resolve the scan problem first. A scan with references but no available paths fails visibly rather than presenting a misleading empty result.
Use the paged browser’s All, Rate, Missing, Audio Clips, Simpler and Sampler filters. Click an existing file path to reveal it in the platform file manager. Audio Files counts deduplicated files; File Uses counts repeated clip/device occurrences. Report saves the current scan as JSON in the Project’s Set Diagnostics Reports folder.
Stop the transport before using Warp All or Unwarp All. A second confirmation press is required; Cancel or waiting 15 seconds exits confirmation. This changes only audio clips’ Warp on/off setting and preserves their existing Warp Modes. It does not change Simpler or Sampler warp settings.
Scan calculates eligible and blocked sample-rate mismatches, estimated backup size, working-space requirements and blocking reasons. Missing, read-only, lossy, Pack and out-of-project files are excluded by default. A mismatch alone does not mean a file can or should be converted.
Convert replaces source files. Keep a separate project backup and stop playback. Press Convert only after reviewing the safety list; press it again within 15 seconds to confirm. Cancel becomes available after the first press, and the confirmation expires automatically. Do not treat cancellation as an undo for already completed replacements.
For each eligible file the device copies the original and its .asd into a timestamped backup, converts to a temporary file in the source directory, validates it, then replaces the source. It removes the active analysis sidecar so Live can rebuild it and writes a restoration manifest. The interface shows conversion progress and can reveal the backup folder after completion.
Restore recovers originals from the latest plugin-created backup manifest. Backups are not removed automatically. Review the backup folder and keep the manifest with it.
Coverage includes Session, Arrangement and take-lane audio clips, nested Simpler samples, and saved-set Sampler references. Third-party instruments’ internal libraries are not exposed. Sampler discovery does not reflect unsaved edits. Drum Sampler coverage remains unsupported until verified. The device reports the verified sample rate, not the Live hardware buffer size. Results are an audit aid, not a guarantee that a Set is show-ready.
Product illustrations contain example data from older v1.2 website artwork; they are not current scan results or captured v1.3.2 screenshots.
